PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke candle that is useful as a road work signal smoke candle used to make a running vehicle at a job site or a work site speedily recognizable by generating a red flame by burning by disposing in the surrounding of the job site or work site when road repair work or traffic accident treatment work is performed particularly on an expressway, in which it is devised such that a burning residue of the smoke candle does not give visual misunderstanding on a driver of a vehicle running the periphery thereof after the end of construction or treatment.SOLUTION: A smoke candle in which a flaming material composition containing a combustible, an oxidant and a strontium compound represented by strontium nitrate is filled in an inflammable cylinder, which is prepared such that a burning residue of the smoke candle is a burning candle that shows the brightness of a value of N6.0 or smaller represented by Munsell color chart.SELECTED DRAWING: None
