PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step with an object falling prevention function which can prevent an object from falling from a footstep surface.SOLUTION: The step with an object falling prevention function comprises: a footstep surface having a flat surface which a user of an escalator gets on; a riser connected to one edge part of the footstep surface; a drive unit for inclining the footstep surface such that the one edge part of the footstep surface becomes higher than the other edge part when being operated; a detection unit for detecting an object or a user on the footstep surface; and a step control device for activating the drive unit when it is determined that there is an object on the footstep surface but there is no user on the footstep surface on the basis of detection results of the detection unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
