A gap narrowing material including a brush-shaped polymer chain assembly composed of a plurality of polymer chains fixed to a base material. The present invention provides a gap narrowing member that effectively suppresses fluid leakage through a gap and does not hinder relative movement of members forming the gap, and prevents fluid leakage from the gap. At the same time, it is possible to realize an article in which the members forming the gap can operate smoothly.
