A method and system for automatically creating and assigning assembly labor activities (ALAs) to a bill of materials (BOM) with a cloud SaaS service. ALA templates are automatically selected and populated for the BOM including labor activities, and other construction related activities, required to build a desired physical structure (e.g., building, etc.) and used to automatically create the ALAs associated with a particular BIM or set of BOM Items. A Critical Path Method (CPM)—Work Time Schedule (WTS) is automatically created. The CPM-WTS along with BOM information is used to automatically create a cost estimate report for building the desired physical structure created. An interactive messaging system is used with the SaaS service to send mobile messages for scheduled ALAs, requesting crew size and productivity information each day for each scheduled ALA and showing productivity trends for contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors or other parties associated with one or more of the ALA activities in the CPM-WTS. If the schedule progress varies from the scheduled amount, the interactive messaging system sends a message requesting the cause of the schedule impact.
