macroporous latex-based biomembrane for use as a dressing in wound healing processes. the present invention reports the creation of biomembranes with macroscopic pores, with millimeter diameters (0.1 to 5 mm) for use in wound healing. the potential of biomembranes was evaluated in wounds produced on the back of wister rats. the presence of macropores in biomembranes allowed the exudate not to remain trapped in the wound and thus there was no unwanted staining or foul odor. in addition to an efficient gas exchange, the millimetric porosity of the biomembrane allowed a significant reduction in exudate, leaving the wound with adequate moisture for healing. in addition, it was observed that the wound closure process occurred in a shorter time interval than the other controls
