compositions and methods are provided to provide nematicidal activity to bacteria, plants, plant cells, tissues and seeds. methods for killing or controlling populations of nematode pests, particularly populations of pratylenchus spp., such as pratylenchus brachyurus, are particularly provided. methods include contacting the nematode pest with a pesticide-effective amount of a polypeptide comprising a nematicidal toxin, particularly nematicidal toxin active against nematode pratylenchus spp., such as pratylenchus brachyurus. methods of increasing production in plants by expressing the toxin according to the present invention are also included.
