a method to at least improve cravings reduction, improve mood, avoid depression, prevent weight gain after weight loss due to diet, reduce negative side effects produced by appetite and smoking cessation drugs and promoting healthy aging in a person in need thereof, comprising administering a composition to said person, said composition comprising: a) an effective amount of a bark extract of cyperus esculentus, rhizomes of cyperus esculentus, or a combination thereof ; b) an effective amount of mangiferin, norathyriol or an extract comprising mangiferin or norathyriol; or c) a synergistic combination of (a) and (b). the composition may comprise a third active ingredient in combination with the extract of cyperus esculentus and mangiferin or norathyriol.
