Method for producing ecological explosives and ecological explosives for matched ammunition compositions

The method of producing an ecological explosive, which is the basic bismuth salt of 5,5'-bis-azotetrazole and its use in an ignition ecological mixture in primer ammunition compositions, comprises the following steps:(a) preparing a 0.01 to 0.1 M solution of bismuth alkanesulphonate in distilled / demineralised water;b) adjusting the pH of the prepared solution to about pH = 2.5 by titration with a 1 to 5 N alkali metal hydroxide solution;c) heating the treated solution to boiling point with subsequent precipitation with 3 to 5 weight % of aqueous solution of alkali metal 5,5'-bis-azotetrazolate, based on the weight of azotetrazolate, with vigorous stirring;d) heating the resulting suspension to boiling for at least 3 min;e) allowing the precipitate-containing suspension to cool to room temperature while stirring and then allowing to stand overnight;f) filtering the suspension on a filter, washing the precipitate with distilled / demineralised water and draining with a water-miscible organic solvent;g) drying the amorphous, deep yellow basic bismuth salt of 5,5'-bis-azotetrazole at room or elevated temperature.
