The present invention relates to the recombinant yeast Kluyveromyces lactis (K. lactis), which are characterized by highly efficient expression of one or more foreign proteins and which are suitable for use as a vaccine for generating a protective immune response against pathogens. In particular, the present invention provides strains of K. lactis for targeted cloning of nucleic acids encoding a foreign antigen into the genome of a yeast strain of K. lactis, characterized in that the K. lactis strain as an alternative or addition to the KILAC4 locus at the KIURA3- 20 (KLLA0E2277lg) and / or the KIMET5-1 locus (KLLA0B03938g) contain integrated expression cassettes for foreign antigens. The present invention further relates to integrable expression vectors and a method for producing the K. lactis strains of the present invention, as well as their use as a vaccine.
