Solid solution compositions and use in chronic inflammation

The present specification discloses a solid solution pharmaceutical composition comprising one or more therapeutic compounds in an amount of about 0.1% to about 40% by weight of the pharmaceutical composition; and one or more hydrophobic hard fats in an amount of at least 30% by weight of the pharmaceutical composition, the one or more hydrophobic hard fats being solid at 20°C and comprising glycerolipids having a triglyceride at least one fatty acid with a C12-C24 carbon chain length; wherein when the one or more therapeutic compounds is a therapeutic compound having a free acid or base with a logP of 2.2 to 3.0, one or more stabilizing agents are present, wherein when the one or more therapeutic compounds is a therapeutic compound salt with a logP of 2.2 or less, one or more neutralizing agents are present, wherein the solid solution pharmaceutical composition does not comprise a surfactant; and wherein the solid solution pharmaceutical composition is formulated to be a solid at a temperature of about 15°C or lower and has a melting point of 30°C or higher.
