The subject of the notification is pharmaceutical composition and its application to prevent weight gain, overweight and obesity. The composition contains, as active substance, citric acid or its pharmacologically permissible salts and ethanol and, in addition, an acceptable vehicle. The favourable formulation contains cyanilic acid in quantities of 0022% --3,0%w/v and ethanol 96% in quantities of 10,0%%75,0% v. Cyaninic acid or its pharmacologically acceptable salt is of natural origin, favourably comes from edible chestnut flowers or bee honey or extracts from bee honey or obtained by biotechnological methods favourably from yeast.
