Process for the preparation of lithium fluoride, which comprises at least the steps of: a) providing an aqueous medium containing dissolved lithium carbonate, the solid lithium carbonate used for supplying having a purity degree of 98.0 to 99 , 8% by weight with respect to the anhydrous product, b) reaction of the aqueous medium provided according to a) with gaseous hydrogen fluoride to give an aqueous suspension of solid lithium fluoride c) separation of the solid lithium fluoride from the aqueous suspension , d) drying the separated lithium fluoride.
