A welding robot is provided. The welding robot is adapted for operating in thespace between anupper and a lower platen of a press and comprises a support frame. A processor isadapted for executingexecutable commands stored in a storage medium connected thereto. Theprocessor whenexecuting the commands identifies defects on a surface of one of the upper andthe lower platenbased on image data received from the at least a camera and controls thewelding tool and thegrinding tool in dependence on the image data.
