A reactor to purify polluted water which comprises a housing having a fluidinlet anda treated fluid outlet, an anode mounted within the housing, the anode beingformed of anelectrically conductive material, a cathode, a UV lamp emitting light at twodifferentwavelenghts with the first wavelength being effective to cause oxygen to formozone and asecond wavelength being effective to produce peroxide and hydroxyl radicals atthe cathode,the UV lamp being housed within a transparent inner housing with a gas flowpassagepassing around the UV lamp to permit the passage of an oxygen containing gastherein.
