A GIS-based unmanned aerial vehicle plant protection system and method; the GIS-based unmanned aerial vehicle plant protection system comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle (100) and a monitoring terminal (200), wherein the unmanned aerial vehicle (100) is provided with a positioning unit (110), a depth camera (120), and a flight execution unit (140), and the monitoring terminal (200) comprises a GIS processing unit (210), a manual control unit (230), an automatic control unit (230), and a control mode switching unit (240); the depth camera (120) collects deep point cloud data of farmland and sends the data to the GIS processing unit (210), the GIS processing unit (210) analyzes the deep point cloud data and displays regions in the farmland in which crops are planted on a GIS map, and according to the GIS map, the unmanned aerial vehicle may be manually or automatically controlled to precisely perform plant protection on crops in the farmland without missing any places.
