The present invention is characterized in that: a dorsal floating body (10) to be disposed on the dorsal side of a human body when in use as a floating body and a ventral floating body (12) to be disposed on the ventral side (F) of the human body when in use as a floating body are connected at the shoulders by means of shoulder connecting parts (14); normally, the dorsal floating body (10) is stowed in a backpack (6) and the ventral floating body (12) is arranged on the outside of the backpack (6) on the opposite side from the human body; and, when the life-preserving body is to be used as a floating body, the ventral floating body (12) is swung about the shoulder connecting parts (14) over to the ventral side of the human body so that the ventral floating body (12) is disposed on the ventral side of the human body, and a crotch string (16) is hung between the dorsal floating body (10) or the backpack (6) and the ventral floating body (12) so as to pass below the crotch (C) of the human body, connecting the dorsal floating body (10) or the backpack (6) to the ventral floating body (12).
