The invention relates to a press section of a machine for producing a fibrous material web (1), in particular a paper, cardboard or tissue web having two press nips (3, 4) lying one behind the other in the web running direction and each formed by two press elements. At least one separate, continuously circulating press belt (5, 6, 7, 8) is passed around each press element over a plurality of guide rollers (9, 10, 11), the upper press belt (5) is led away from the fibrous material web (1) after the first press nip (3), the fibrous material web (1) is then transferred from the lower press belt (6) of the first press nip (3) to the upper press belt (7) of the second press nip (4) surrounding a vacuum-assisted guide roller (12), and then the lower press belt (8) of the second press nip (4) is brought into contact with the fibrous material web (1) via a guide roller (9), after which the fibrous material web (1) runs to the second press nip (4) via a routing section (13) jointly with the two opposing press belts (7, 8). In this case, the possibilities for use of the press section with the greatest possible drainage capacity should be extended such that the position of the guide roller (9) surrounded by the lower press belt (8) of the second press nip (4) before the start of the routing section (13) is variable so as to change the length of the routing section (13) and a steam blow box (14), the blow nozzles of which are directed onto the fibrous material web (1), can be moved in front of this variable guide roller (9), with the guide path (13) shortened below the fibrous material web (1).
