The method for evaluation of stress comprises the steps of: obtaining an amino acid level data that relates to a value of an amino acid level from a blood collected from a subject to be evaluated; and evaluating the state of stress including at least depression or major depression in the subject, based on a value of a blood level of at least one amino acid selected from Lys, His, ABA, Asn, Phe, Leu, Ile, Val, Trp, Tyr and Met included in the amino acid level data.
