An air conditioner control method, wherein a filter screen is provided at an air return inlet of an air conditioner indoor unit, and a negative ion purification device is provided between the filter screen and an indoor heat exchanger. The air conditioner control method comprises the following steps: upon receiving an air purification instruction, obtaining a power-on duration of an air conditioner (S10); and if the power-on duration is longer than a first preset duration, controlling a negative ion purification device to operate (S20).
