The invention relates to a method for assembling a hood (4) on a body (6) of a motor vehicle, on a station (2) of an assembly line, the method comprising the following steps: positioning the hood (4) on the body, in the open position; engaging and tightening the nuts for attaching the hood (4) to the body; lowering the hood to a closed position; and a step of positioning the hood (4), which is performed exclusively by an industrial robot (10) while the body (6) is stationary on the assembly line. The invention also relates to a hood assembly line on a motor vehicle body configured to perform the method of the invention.
