PROCESSING IN MEMORY DEVICE USING COMMERCIAL MEMORY BUS

Provided are a method for operating a processing in memory (PIM) using a conventional commercial memory bus without modification, and a PIM device to which the method is applied. A PIM device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a memory for storing data; a memory control device for reading and writing data at a corresponding address of the memory; an input/output device for receiving an address, data, and a command; and a computing device for executing a command regarding the data, wherein the input/output device may receive a destination address through an address signal, and may receive a packet, through a DQ signal, including a command to be executed by the computing device, an operand address, and data. Accordingly, it possible to implement a PIM without modifying hardware and software of an existing computer system, and in particular, it is possible to use the PIM on all commercially available motherboards using a PSRAM.
