The present invention concerns the genetic modification of bacteria of the Clostridium genus, typically solventogenic bacteria of the Clostridium genus, in particular bacteria having, in the wild state, a gene coding an amphenicol-O-acetyltransferase. It thus concerns methods, tools and kits allowing such a genetic modification, in particular the elimination or modification of a sequence coding or controlling the transcription of an amphenicol-O-acetyltransferase, the genetically modified bacteria obtained and the uses of same, in particular for producing a solvent, preferably on an industrial scale.
