The invention relates to an electromagnetic drive device (2) and a proportional solenoid valve (1) equipped therewith. The drive device (2) has an electrically energisable coil arrangement (25) having two magnetic coils (26, 27), which are each flanked on their outer side by a flux-conducting pole ring (36, 37) and delimit an armature (13) which can be driven to perform a lifting movement (14). The armature (13) has a flux-conducting armature body (55), which always covers the two pole rings (36, 37) partially axially and has at least one annular armature body end section (72, 73), which has a peripheral surface that tapers conically axially inwards. During energising of the coil arrangement (25), the coil magnetic fields generated thereby interact with the permanent magnetic field (34) of a permanent magnet (32) and cause a resulting drive force which is responsible for generating the lifting movement.
