The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for operating safety systems of a vehicle, comprising the method steps: selecting an accident scenario for the vehicle; analysing effects of the accident scenario on occupants (2) of the vehicle; simulating at least positions and body postures of the occupants (2) at the time of the accident depending on the effects; depending on this simulation, determining the safety systems which, when triggered, protect the occupants (2) in the accident scenario; and storing the accident scenario and the determined safety systems in a memory of the vehicle in order to read the memory during the accident scenario and to trigger the stored safety systems. The invention further relates to a control device (20), an occupant protection system (10) and a computer program product (100).
