The present invention relates to chalcogenide glass compositions for use in lens systems that provide a color element and a thermal optical element that balance heat effects and color effects to efficiently maintain color performance over a wide temperature range. The glass composition is based on sulfur in combination with germanium, arsenic and / or gallium and may further comprise, for example, halides of silver, zinc, or alkali metals.
