Disclosed is an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus of the present invention comprises: a print engine performing a print job using a toner filled in a toner cartridge; a communication device communicable with a memory chip attached to a toner refill device for refilling the toner in the toner cartridge; a memory storing group information corresponding to a plurality of image forming apparatuses for sharing the toner refill device; and a processor checking whether the toner refill device may be used based on information stored in a memory chip of the toner refill device and group information.
