A simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) method adopts a dual event based camera. An event stream from a camera stereoscopically detects a surface point in the environment, dynamically calculates a pose of the camera as the camera moves, and simultaneously updates a map of the environment. Gradient descent-based optimization can be used to update the pose for each event or for each small event batch.
