The present invention relates to a lidar (100) for checking a state of a target (140) by using a correlation signal comprising: a correlation signal generation unit (110) for generating two or more different correlation signals; a signal transmission/reception unit (130) for radiating some of the two or more correlation signals to the atmosphere as transmission signals (St) and receiving a signal reflected and returned from the target (140), which is a measurement target, among the radiated transmission signals (St) as a reception signal (Sr); a delay time control unit (150) for delaying a reference signal by an appropriate delay time by using the other correlation signal among correlation signals of two modes as the reference signal (Sref); a delay time determination unit (180) for determining whether the delay time delayed by the delay time control unit (150) is appropriate by determining whether a signal, which is obtained by combining the reception signal and the reference signal, has an SNR equal to or greater than a threshold value; and a processing unit (190) for checking characteristics of the target (140) by using the reception signal and the reference signal.
