The present invention relates to an antioxidant composition containing an extract of Malus prunifolia Wild. Borkh as an effective component, and more specifically, to an antioxidant composition which contains an extract of Malus prunifolia Wild. Borkh of Adams varieties, which are ripe varieties of Malus prunifolia Wild. Borkh, as an effective component and has potent DPPH anion scavenging activity, ABTS cation scavenging activity, nitrite scavenging activity, and reducing ability, wherein the antioxidant composition is for use in a pharmaceutical composition, a health functional food, or a functional cosmetic composition. The extract of Malus prunifolia Wild. Borkh of Adams varieties as an effective component of the antioxidant composition of the present invention, as demonstrated in embodiments in the present specification, exhibits extremely potent scavenging activity with respect to active anions, active cations, and nitrite, and at the same time, exhibits excellent reducing ability.
