The present invention relates to an electronic device for recognizing occurrence of hypotension, which predicts or determines the occurrence of hypotension to provide a service for the hypotension, and an operation method thereof. According to various embodiments of the present invention, the electronic device comprises: a housing; a user interface; a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor exposed through at least a part of the housing; a motion sensor disposed in the housing; a processor operatively connected to the user interface, the PPG sensor, and the motion sensor; and a memory operatively connected to the processor. The memory stores instructions, in execution, for allowing the processor to check a blood pressure value based on at least a part of second data received from the PPG sensor when first data received from the motion sensor represents a change in a selected pattern and provide a notification through the user interface when the checked blood pressure value is lower than a first threshold.
