The present invention relates to a use for regulating cell transcription and apoptosis by regulating KDM2B-mediated H3K79 demethylation. More specifically, it was confirmed that KDM2B serves as a histone demethylase that catalyzes the removal of secondary and tertiary methyl groups from H3K79 residues. It was confirmed that H3K79me2 demethylation induced by KDM2B induces SIRT1 (sirtuin-1)-mediated chromatin silencing to inhibit cell transcription. Regulation of KDM2B-mediated H3K79me2/3 demethylation can promote apoptosis by inhibiting the transcription of leukemia cells in which cell transcription is abnormally promoted. Therefore, the H3K79me2/3 demethylation regulation may be provided as a novel apoptosis promoting agent or anticancer agent screening method.
