The present invention relates to a use for regulating cell transcription and apoptosis through the regulation of intracellular KDM2B-mediated H3K79 demethylation activity, and more specifically, KDM2B serves as a histone demethylation enzyme catalyzing the removal of secondary and tertiary methyl groups from H3K79 residues. As it was confirmed that H3K79me2 demethylation induced by KDM2B inhibits cell transcription by inducing SIRT1 (sirtuin-1) mediated chromatin silencing, KDM2B-mediated H3K79me2/3 demethylation was abnormally regulated. Since it is possible to promote apoptosis by inhibiting the transcription of leukemia cells in which cell transcription is promoted, the H3K79me2/3 demethylation regulation may be provided as a novel cell death promoter or anticancer agent screening method.
