The present invention relates to novel Lactobacillus sakei WIKIM30 (accession number: KCCM11878P) isolated from kimchi and a composition containing the same as an active component. Since Lactobacillus sakei WIKIM30 according to the present invention exhibits excellent anticancer activity in cancer cell lines and animal models in which cancer cells are transplanted, Lactobacillus sakei WIKIM30 can be usefully used as a composition for treating, preventing or alleviating cancer in humans or animals.
