The present invention relates to an HDAC6 inhibitor, and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating dementia or cognitive impairment using the same, and synthesized 56 new HDAC6 selective inhibitors based on the structure of Compound 52 which is an HDAC6 selective inhibitor. The derivative compound 32, which has the highest activity and selectivity, has an improvement effect on learning and memory impairment. Therefore, by applying the HDAC6 inhibitor according to the present invention to degenerative neurological diseases including dementia or cognitive impairment, it is expected to contribute to disease mechanism research and further suggest new drug development potential.
