The present invention relates to a coating method for enhancing side insulation performance of a ZnO device. According to the present invention, an insulating material is coated so that an outer layer which has wave forms and is thin is coated when a side of a ZnO device applied to an arrester is coated. The side of the outer layer which has wave forms and is thin is coated to prevent a peeling phenomenon with the ZnO device, wherein a coating thickness is thin and adhesion is strengthened, and further, secure a thermal shock prevention function.
