CANOLA GERMPLASM EXHIBITING SEED COMPOSITIONAL ATTRIBUTES THAT DELIVER ENHANCED CANOLA MEAL NUTRITIONAL VALUE

The present invention relates to a canola germplasm comprising 45% or more crude protein and 18% or less acidic detergent insoluble fiber content on an oil-free dry mass basis. Certain embodiments further include one or more properties selected from the group consisting of reduced polyphenol content and increased phosphorus content. In certain embodiments, the present invention relates to canola plants comprising such germplasm, and plant products (eg, seeds) produced therefrom. The canola plant comprising the germplasm of the present invention is a source of canola foil and a method for introducing high protein content, low fiber content, reduced polyphenol content and increased phosphorus content into canola varieties in a seed color-independent manner. It can exhibit advantageous seed composition properties that make it particularly valuable.
