Provided are a distributed transcoding method capable of real-time transcoding for tile-based streaming of an image with ultra-large capacity such as 8k and 16k, and a system thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the distributed transcoding method comprises: a step of analyzing an input video to perform time division at a bitstream level; a first encoding step of downsampling the time-divided video and then encoding the same by one video encoder; a second encoding step of spatially dividing the time-divided video into NxM number of tiles and then encoding the same by NxM number of video encoders; and a step of storing the encoded video as a file and transmitting the same. Therefore, real-time distributed transcoding for tile-based streaming of an image with ultra-large capacity of 8k and 16k such as 360 VR or panoramic video can be performed, and all video codecs for supporting a tile, such as HEVC and AV1, are supported such that a service can be flexibly provided.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
