Location Based Ranking of Real World Locations

The online reservation system enables users to create, search, and book items of goods or services. When a user searches for items, the items are ranked based on at least a portion of a location relevance score including at least one of a city relevance partial score, a neighbor relevance partial score, and a distance partial score. In general, the city relevance partial score quantifies the actual intended probability that a search user finds city items other than the city specified in the search query. In general, the adjacent relevance partial score quantifies the popularity of a particular neighboring region within a city by replacing or adding to the distance partial score to determine the actual distance between the item's actual location and the location specified by the search query.
