The present invention relates to a novel catalyst for producing a transport fuel precursor from a furan-based compound derived from biomass and a method for producing a polymer of a furan-based compound using the same. The catalyst for preparing the transport fuel precursor according to the present invention does not use a strong acid such as sulfuric acid, and thus does not require a complicated process for separation and recovery of residual strong acid, and is environmentally friendly. In addition, since the surface area of the catalyst is very wide, it exhibits excellent conversion, high selectivity of the desired product, and excellent cycle characteristics of the catalyst. Furthermore, by using an ionic liquid as a linking group, the acid strength and the degree of hydrophobicity of the terminal acidic functional group can be further strengthened to exhibit better yield and conversion rate.
