The present invention uses racemic styrene oxide and its derivatives as substrates and uses selected marine microorganisms ( Sphingorhabdus sp. YGSMI21) having enantioselective hydrolytic enzyme activity and four epoxide hydrolase derived from this strain. The present invention relates to a method for preparing an optically pure epoxide having high optical activity from a substrate of racemic styrene oxide and derivatives thereof.
