A method of classifying the types of Structured Query Language (SQL) queries performed by a computing device is provided. The method includes classifying a first query into a first query type, determining a correlation between the second query and the first query, and determining that the correlation between the second query and the first query is greater than a predetermined reference value. Classifying the second query into a first query type in response to the determination. Therefore, it is possible to classify a plurality of queries into a limited number of query types by classifying a query type based on the similarity between queries, and to detect a new type of query.
