The present disclosure provides antibodies that specifically bind to calidine or des-Arg10-calidine. In addition, the present disclosure provides nucleic acids encoding anti-calidine or des-Arg10-calidine antibodies, recombinant expression vectors for preparing such antibodies or fragments thereof, and host cells as well as pharmaceutical compositions. Also provided by the present invention is a method of using an antibody of the present disclosure to modulate the activity of calidine or des-Arg10-calidine in vivo or in vitro or to detect calidine or des-Arg10-calidine. In addition, the present disclosure provides a method of preparing an antibody that specifically binds to des-Arg ₉ -bradykinin and des-Arg ₁₀ -calidine-like peptides.
