FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heterogeneous catalysis, particularly to a method of producing a catalyst for liquid-phase hydrogenation of mixtures containing carbonyl and hydroxyl derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons. Method of producing catalyst is based on copper and aluminum oxide and consists in the fact that aluminum oxide is taken in form of granules and used as carrier after treatment in water for at least 9 hours at temperature 160 °C and pressure of 7 kgf/cm2 or 190 °C and pressure 14 kgf/cm2 at weight ratio of water : aluminum oxide (2–10):1, respectively, after drying, the support is impregnated with aqueous solution of copper ammine with copper concentration of 1–1.5 mol/l and dried, and after drying is reduced in hydrogen current at temperature of 290 °C, wherein drying of carrier after treatment in water and impregnation thereof is carried out at temperature not higher than 300 °C.;EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of hydrothermal stability of catalyst.;1 cl, 2 tbl, 6 ex
