The present invention relates to a heat-sealable barrier paper comprising or consisting of a) a backing paper having a front side and a back side opposite the front side, b) a first barrier layer arranged on the front side of the backing paper, consisting of or comprising a binder and a pigment and c) a second barrier layer arranged on the first barrier layer, consisting of or comprising an acrylate copolymer and a wax. The present invention further relates to the use of a barrier paper according to the invention as packaging and a method for producing a barrier paper according to the invention.
