Half cell (11, 12) for an electrochemical device, comprising: a catalyst layer (2) for contacting an ion-conducting membrane (1); a fluid distribution layer (6, 8) which is arranged in the half cell (11, 12) such that the fluid distribution layer (6, 8) carries the complete fluid flow of the half cell (11, 12) of the electrochemical device, and which has an open-porous basic structure, the open-porous basic structure consisting of exactly one material; has a shape-like morphology over the entire fluid distribution layer (6, 8); anda microporous functional layer (3, 7) which directly contacts both the catalyst layer (2) and the side of the fluid distribution layer (6, 8) facing the membrane (1).
