The invention relates to an adapter for fastening a vibration sensor (3) to the housing (2a) of a vibrating machine (2). In order to propose a universal fastening device for a vibration sensor that can be easily attached to the machine to be monitored and sensors of various designs can be fastened in all conceivable mounting directions, the invention provides that the adapter (1) is designed as a metallic body that at least has three first bores (11, 12, 13) each running perpendicular to one another, each with an internal thread section and at least one second bore (15) designed as a through bore with a smooth inner wall, the body being designed in such a way that it has at least three flat sides (1a, 1b, 1c) and each of these three flat sides (1a, 1b, 1c) has at least one first bore (11, 12, 13).
