Portable device capable of providing and displaying selectable emergency lighting messages for motor vehicles, to be displayed in the event of a breakdown of the vehicle or an accident between several vehicles and to be visible in road traffic, comprising a pair of plates (8, 9), fitted with electronic circuits for the formation of images connected along one side of their edges by means of hinges (6, 7) which allow both the overlapping of the panels and their book-like opening; to form a combined display surface,on which an overall picture is reproduced and displayed, the shares of which are shown on the individual tables, the total picture referring to an emergency signal symbol for motor vehicles, with a container (1) for recording the tables (8, 9) and the corresponding frame (10, 11),electronic means of storing the images and the corresponding shares to be formed and reproduced on the tables, as well as electronic means of selecting a particular image from the stored images.
