The present invention relates to a method for designing a plant for manufacturing a coating, said installation comprising: a device (24) for looping a sheet (20) of fibers, comprising rotatable discs (36); and a conveyor (32) comprising brushes (44) configured to receive between their bristles (46) undulations (34) of the fibers of the web. The disks are configured to penetrate between the bristles at a minimum penetration depth (H). The method comprises the following steps: providing a test device comprising blades having a profile similar to that of the disks (36); penetrating the blades between the bristles (46) of a preselected brush; and selecting a brush for which a penetration force is between 1 N and 10 N for the minimum penetration depth (H).
