The invention relates to a method for developing a predictive control instruction able to be installed in a trajectory control unit of a motor vehicle. According to the invention, the method comprises, for at least a given speed of movement of the motor vehicle on a traffic lane, steps of: - determination of a plurality of regulation data, each regulation data making it possible, from 'at least one input datum, to generate the command setpoint so that it satisfies a robustness parameter, and each regulation datum being associated with a particular configuration of use of said motor vehicle, - identification of at least one regulation data item among the plurality of regulation data determined, as a function of a result of a simulation of the trajectory of the motor vehicle on the traffic lane, and - use of said at least one regulation data item identified for the trajectory control of said motor vehicle.
