The invention relates to a system for welding rails comprising: - sliding connection means of a first chassis (14) with a second chassis (16) along a longitudinal axis; - first clamping means (30) of a first rail portion carried by the first chassis (14) and second clamping means (32) of a second rail portion carried by the second chassis (16); - biasing means, the ends of the rail portions one on the other, connected to the first frame (14) via the first clamping means (30) and to the second frame 16 via the second clamping means (32); - First alignment means (68) of a first rail portion along the longitudinal axis and second alignment means (70) of a second rail portion along the longitudinal axis.
